Upload a .vtf file, then select Preview to display its texture. The viewer reports dimensions, version, compression and mip count. Choose a mip level to inspect smaller images, or use zoom to look more closely. Raw data and the original download remain available.

Supported VTF files

This standalone viewer supports VTF 7.2 with DXT1 or DXT5 compression and a single 2D image. Other versions and encodings, animated textures, cubemaps and volume textures are unsupported. A browser with WebGL and S3TC texture support is required.

Previews are limited to 32 MiB, 4096 pixels per side and 4,194,304 pixels. Damaged or unsupported textures show an error while retaining the original file. This tool does not convert VTF to PNG.

Where can I find a VTF?

Source games and addons often store textures under materials/. Use the VPK extractor or Garry's Mod GMA extractor to browse a package first. A VTF is the image data; a material can also depend on separate settings and other textures.
