What can I extract?

VPK archives package assets used by Source and Source 2 games. Browse extracted files and download them individually or as a ZIP. Compiled Source 2 assets can also be converted into formats suitable for editing or previewing.

Uploading split VPK archives

A file such as pak01_dir.vpk is an index. Its contents may live in pak01_000.vpk, pak01_001.vpk and other numbered volumes. Put the index and its volumes in one ZIP, preserving their original names and relative paths. The upload limit is 700 MiB.

If a volume is missing, the result lists the indexed files and names the missing volume. Any files that can be extracted remain available.

Source 2 game assets

Source 2 is used by Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Half-Life: Alyx and Deadlock. A standalone compiled resource may depend on models, materials or textures elsewhere in the game. Include available companion resources in the same ZIP, keeping the game directory structure.

Game updates and resource versions can affect recovery. The results retain original compiled files and explain unsupported resources, missing dependencies and processing limits. Compilation may discard information, so recovered assets can differ from their original source.

This recovers game assets; it does not recover the engine's original C++ code. For older Source .bsp maps, use the BSP decompiler.

How to use the results

Open files/ or extracted/ for original files and converted/ for recovered assets. The file inventory and conversion details are in source2-manifest.json. DECOMPILATION-NOTES.txt explains any incomplete results.
